From being the vanguard during the
period of National Struggle to now a flourishing 21st century city,
the ancient land of Bhadrak has many untold tales to tell-
1. Named after the goddess Bhadrakali, the protector of
good, this district was carved out from the Balasore district and became a
separate entity on 1 April 1993.

2. Rakta Tirtha Eram in Basudev Pur, where about 30 people
were killed by the British police while fighting for independence earned
Bhadrak a special identity. Dubbed
as the "2ND JALIANAWALABAGH"
it has a memorial built in the honor of the martyrs of Eram Massacre.

3. Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab ,
Moulabi Mohammad Hannif, Kanta Kabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, Jatiya Kabi
Banchanidhi Mohanty,Mr. Nilamani Routray are a few prominent freedom fighters
who were the natives of Bhadrak.
4. Among many other historical places and monuments, the
famous temples of Biranchi Narayan in Palia, Sri Radha Madanmohan, and the
temple of Akhandalamani in Aradi of Bhadrak district are the major tourist
attractions. The Akhandalamani Temple is the principal source of the profitable
development of the tourism industry of Bhadrak.

5. The Patana Mangala in Chatrapada village is famous for Mangala temple with the biggest pond of Odisha.

6. Bhadrak is home to one of the largest manufacturers of
quality ferro chrome in the country- FACOR.
